The 2012 City of Austin Charter Revision Committee has established several ways to engage the community as it considers possible charter recommendations including geographic representation through districting, term limits and the authority for City Council to make certain appointments.
The Committee website, www.austintexas.gov/charter, lists the various ways people may participate and stay informed. Those include:
• Joining the online conversation at SpeakUpAustin, at www.austintexas.icanmakeitbetter.com
• Calling the 2012 Charter Revision Committee Hotline with questions or comments at (512) 539-0070
• Signing up for Austin Notes to get email updates at www.austintexas.gov/news/notes/index.cfm
In addition to the phone and online participation, all Committee meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. The public may sign up for Citizen Communication, a time designated for the public to address the Committee.
Meetings are being conducted throughout Austin to better reach various segments of the community, but you don’t have to live in the meeting area to participate. All meetings start at 6 p.m. Meetings include:
