Dallas Complete Streets to meet with citizens regarding Ledbetter/Camp Wisdom Corridor
Dear Citizen,
If you haven’t received an e-mail or information on this already, we would like to introduce the Dallas Complete Streets Initiative the City is working on currently. This initiative will develop a new approach to designing your streets that are “complete” in accommodating all users, children, old, physically disabled, bicyclists, and transit users in a safe and efficient manner, while complimenting more transportation choices like cars, bikes, train, buses, streetcar, etc. The key focus of this new approach will be about what neighborhoods want to see on their streets. To learn more about Complete Streets, visit our website www.dallascompletestreets.com.
The City of Dallas will host a series of workshops and open houses (see attached flyer for details) to inform the public about the Complete Streets Initiative and seek input on how streets can better serve the needs of the community. Each open house and workshop will feature a different pilot street project and give residents the opportunity to learn about and provide input on the Complete Streets Initiative and share ideas for future improvements.
The workshop for your area is scheduled on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at UNT-Dallas, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.(see attached flyer for details). This workshop will be looking at the Lancaster Road (Kiest to Ledbetter ) and Camp Wisdom Rd.(I35 to Bonnie View Rd.) to address some of the pedestrian and bicycle safety issues and design the street for future infrastructure improvements per community input and recommendations.
Firstly, we wanted to thank you for serving on various committees previously on City projects. The City recognizes you as active leaders of your community and requests your involvement in spreading the word about these upcoming public events and informing your neighborhoods about the Dallas Complete Streets Initiative.
Please feel free to circulate the attached flyers to your neighborhood groups, churches, and various organizations to invite them to attend the upcoming public workshop and inform them about Dallas Complete Streets Initiative.
As the workshop is scheduled for next Wednesday, we greatly appreciate you quick involvement on this.
Thanks and please feel free to call me with any questions @214-670-5827.
