Mr. Davis Speaking before the Council on 9-22-10 I have just received word that long time speaker at Dallas City Hall, Leslie Allen Davis, was found deceased around 9:15 p.m, in his apartment located at 3035 E. Ledbetter. Mr. Davis was 51. We have very little information as to the cause of death, but the police report states that Mr. Davis was found lying face down. Davis was a regular speaker at Dallas City Hall. I will always remember him for his courage to speak even though he was on medication for a mental illness. He would always ease whatever tension that was going on within a meeting, often times bringing a smile to some council members. Davis rarely missed a Wednesday agenda meeting. I recall Mayor Caraway once giving Leslie some shoes because he was in dire need of some new ones(proud to see Caraway make that gesture). Leslie Davis will truly be missed at City Hall and on Ledbetter. One thing is for sure, to all those who knew Mr. Davis, is that Israel has lost a great friend and supporter. REST IN LOVE MY BROTHER. MAY G-D ACCEPT YOUR PRAYERS, FORGIVE YOUR SINS, AND ADMIT YOU TO THE PARADISE. Leslie Allen Davis |
