Ft. Worth | District Five candidate Richie Clark | 3/29/11

Fort Worth, TX— In the wake of heighten budget cuts, police brutality cases and a barrage of other sensitive issues across the city of Fort Worth, the local political campaign season is in full motion.  Particularly, the District 5 City Council seat, which local Educator and Community Activist, Rickie Clark, has leaped head first into this critical political race.

As a long time resident of Fort Worth, Rickie Clark has been working with youth in alternative education and community programs over the last 20 years.  Furthermore, Clark has recently launched a ministry, Christian Community Church, in the heart of the community he is eager to serve as District 5 City Councilman.

“I believe that it is past time for us to build powerful communities, especially on the eastside of Fort Worth, where our Families ,particularly, our youth deserve political leadership that doesn’t just listen to their concerns, but is not afraid to get into the trenches with them to solve their issues,” expressed the Jarvis Christian College Graduate.

As a true man of the people, Clark and his campaign team have begun canvassing door to door, on a mission to register 3,000 new voters, specifically citizens between the ages of 18 and 40.  Previously, the District 5 City Council elections have been plagued with low voter turn-out and dominated with absentee votes, which has worked in the favor of the incumbent, Frank Moss.  However, the lack of community engagement has been a critical factor in the district being riddled with high crime statistics, poor performing schools, lack of economic development, and police brutality.

With a youthful and energetic campaign team, Clark aims to make and sustain an impact that will continue for future generations. His platform calls for a strong community empowerment initiative with critical improvements in economic development, education support, and justice such as a citizen’s review board with subpoena power,  increased community beautification and intensified focus on community based businesses.
