Is there any human dignity or compassion left in the human race today? On January 13, of this year my mother-in-law Katheryn Traylor, was diagnosed with a number of things when she went to St. David's North Medical Center in Austin. She initially went in thinking she had an upset stomach. After running a number test including blood work, she was diagnosed with having MRSA. Soon after that they started her on heavy antibiotics which was given to her through an IV therapy. Three days later after more tests were ran, including x-rays, the hospital felt the need to call on an oncologist.
One of the doctors at the hospital said that it looked as though she had spots on her ovary. Dr. Paul Loar III from Texas Oncology was called in to look over the x-ray of her reproductive system. He then immediately said that from his observation of the x-ray, it looked as though she had ovarian cancer. Two days later she was prep for surgery to have her reproductive system taken out. Dr. Paul Loar III stated to our family that he was 85% sure that he had gotten all of the cancer out. The other 15% she was going to have to have chemo therapy to kill the other cancer cells that he may have missed. After the surgery she was put in ICU for approximately a week. After her stint in ICU, she was then moved to a regular hospital room.
Her recovery from surgery seemed to be going quite well. One week later another oncologist, Dr. Balli Netaji, was called in because another set of tests showed some blockage in her small intestines. Nataji then stated to the family that by his observation it looked as though she has stomach cancer. He told us bluntly that she was to weak to start her on chemo therapy. In his medical opinion he told us that he wanted to get her strong enough so that he could start treatment on her. We then gave him the OK, to go ahead and start feeding her through a feeding tube.
After the decision was made to insert the feeding tube in her, he then gave his medical opinion to send her for two weeks to rehab to help prepare her for chemo therapy. Two weeks isn't enough to prepare someone for anything, especially after just having a major surgery performed. If you ever known someone or maybe know someone who family member has ever had a hysterectomy, normally it takes 6 weeks and counting to heal and to start recuperating. After her two weeks of rehab was up, he then told everyone that it was nothing left for him to do because in his medical opinion she still to weak for him to start chemo on. He then decided to turn her over to hospice. Are you guys gathering all of this info ?Yea, it took me for a whirl wind too. How can you give up on someone without doing all you can do to help save their life?
Was it the insurance, Aetna? The hospital? The doctors? The nurses? Who called that hit?? The death panels of Texas!!! The cancer has not yet spreaded over her entire body just 5 days ago, stated Dr. Bali Netaji. Now another doctor Dr. McKinney with St. David's North Medical Center said that it had spread on to her stomach and her lungs, toe nails, eye lashes and lips, hair. WTF is going on here, damn it!!!! We need some answers and we need them right now!!!!!! They decided to take her feeding tube out, and it has now been eight days and counting; since the hit was called from the HIGH PRIESTS against the FAMILY WISHES.
Now as of 3/18/11, St David's NAMC continues to hold her hostage without giving her proper nutrients to carry on a capacitive life force or allow her to be transferred to other facilities who have stated that they could help us out including, CANCER TREATMENT CENTERS OF AMERICA or even let her go home.
