NEWS RELEASE: Fort Bragg significantly affected by severe weather

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Fort Bragg was affected by severe weather with high
winds on April 16, causing damage to multiple structures and cutting
power to the entire installation.

There are no reports of loss of life or significant injuries on post.

Power is not expected to be restored to Fort Bragg until at least
1200hrs on April 17. Progress Energy utility crews are working to
restore power as soon as possible.

Multiple access points onto Fort Bragg are closed, including Reilly
and Yadkin roads, to outbound traffic. Bragg Boulevard, though open,
remains covered with storm debris.

Womack Army Medical Center has sufficient backup power to support
medical operations.

The North and South Post commissaries and post exchanges will remain
closed until power is restored. The Smoke Bomb Hill shoppette and gas
stations will remain open. All other gas stations and shoppettes on
post will be closed.

Religious services and Sunday Brunch for April 17 are cancelled.

Fort Bragg will remain closed except for key and essential personnel
effective immediately and will remain closed until power is restored
to the installation.

Fort Bragg residents are cautioned to inspect all food before
consuming it as food may spoil after several hours without
refrigeration.

UPDATE :
FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Fort Bragg is still closed except for key and essential personnel.

A decision on the post status for Monday, April 18 will be announced by 5 p.m., April 17.

Utility providers are working diligently to restore power to the installation, and are hopeful that the majority of the post will have electricity today.

The Butner Road gate closed; Reilly and Yadkin open to outbound traffic. The Randolph Street Access Control Point is open to service Bragg Boulevard traffic.

Fort Bragg provided light sets to the Fayetteville Fire Department to assist with recovery operations.

Fort Bragg emergency management officials urge all residents to treat all power lines as though they are live.

NEWS RELEASE: Power restored to most of Fort Bragg this morning

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Fort Bragg was affected by severe weather with high winds April 16, causing damage to multiple structures and cutting power to the entire installation.

Power was restored to the majority of Fort Bragg late this morning.  Progress Energy utility crews are working to restore power to the Linden Oaks community and Simmons Army Airfield as soon as possible.

As a safety reminder treat all power lines as live and take necessary safety precautions when removing debris.

NEWS RELEASE: Fort Bragg Access Control Point status as of 2 p.m., April 17

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Fort Bragg continues to recover from the severe weather of April 16.  Below is a consolidated list of Access Control Points as of 2 p.m., April 17.

- Yadkin Road Access Control Point is closed to all inbound and outbound traffic, including pedestrian traffic.
- Reilly Road Access Control Point is closed to all inbound and outbound traffic, including pedestrian traffic.
- Butner Road and 210/Bragg Blvd Access Control Point is closed to all inbound and outbound traffic, including pedestrian traffic.
- Gruber Road at the All American Freeway Access Control Point is closed to all inbound and outbound traffic, including pedestrian traffic.

Access Control Points that are open to all inbound and outbound traffic, including pedestrian traffic, are as follows:

- Honeycutt Road and NC Highway 210
- Manchester Road
- Randolph Street, only to those north bound onto Bragg Boulevard, moving in the direction towards the community of Spring Lake
- Longstreet Road
- Chicken Road, opened by exception to support traffic during this crisis
- All American Freeway
- Knox Street (no access to Bragg Boulevard)
- Simmons Army Air Field is open only to required personnel

NEWS RELEASE: Fort Bragg reporting delays announced for April 18

FORT BRAGG, N.C – Fort Bragg will operate on a two-hour delay April 18.  Adverse weather personnel will report at normal duty hours, or as directed.

Fort Bragg Army Civilian Employees are on a two-hour delay, with the exception of Adverse Weather Personnel.

First formation for Soldiers will be no earlier than 1 p.m.

Fort Bragg Schools will observer a two-hour delay.
